More Rain on the Way! Some Rainfall Totals from Yesterday.

A widespread rain was had by many yesterday in the northern and eastern Colorado with isolated locations receiving over 1″ of moisture.  Snow fell over the higher mountain peaks and there was even small hail from thunderstorms lower elevations.  Another round of soaking showers with isolated thunderstorms is expected to develop later this afternoon and evening continuing into the overnight hours over portions of northern Colorado.  More snow will fall over the higher mountain peaks today and tonight some of which will last until next spring on the northern slopes.  This storm system promises to stick around for awhile which will keep our weather unsettled through the remainder of the work week.  Above normal September precipitation will be had by many by the end of the weekend but it will not be nearly enough to make up for the abnormally dry and warm months of March through August.  Officially DIA has reported 1.54″ of moisture for the month of September compared to 0.96″ on average for a full month.  We would still need over 5″ of rain by the end of the month to get to near normal!  Below are some rainfall totals from around the state:
