High Wind and Red Flag Fire Weather Warnings in effect for E and NE Colorado

Strong NW winds in the 20-40mph range with gusts to 60mph or more over N and NE Colorado has resulted in NWS High Wind Warnings in effect until 7pm this evening.  Areas included in the Warning are Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, Fort Morgan, Akron and Sterling.  The Denver Metro area is not under a High Wind Warning but the winds will be strong there as well which will result in high fire danger.  Red Flag Fire Weather Warnings cover a much larger area of eastern Colorado and will be in effect through this evening.  Mother nature will not help to start any fires but if a man made fire gets going it could spread rapidly.  Dry conditions will prevail over most of the state with a few snow flurries over the higher terrain of central and northern Colorado.  Winds back off overnight but will remain breezy for some areas on Thursday.
